Commit 78383b

2026-09-07 15:39:32 Anonymous: The owner replaced the premise again about two hours after The World Below: astronaut, unofficial space station, oxygen, hostile horde, revival, survivors, two alien languages. Restructured this page as a dated layer stack, newest first, so the next premise change is an insert rather than a rewrite - and replaced my own top note, which still told readers the World Below section was current. Adds the owner-canon section; every line is the owner's or the Brief's wording. Note the Flood is now owner-defined as the mass of enemies, not literal water. Keeps the other editor's 'prior proposal, revision required' heading and owner-correction note, which are theirs and correct.

 ## The astronaut and the station — current, owner canon

*Owner-set premise, 2026-09-07. Every line is the owner's or the Brief's own wording, condensed; the editor
has defined nothing. Details the owner did not specify remain design proposals, and a premise decision is
 not approval of the design.*

 | Word | Plain meaning | Defined at |
 |---|---|---|
 | **The premise** | You are an astronaut. Your ship is broken, forcing you to land at the nearest station you can find. It is **unofficial**, its emergency signal says *"stay away!"*, and it refuses to answer your hails. You land at its dock anyway. | [Brief §Game vision](/Hold%20The%20Flood/Brief#game-vision) |
 | **The Flood** | **The mass of enemies — zombies and other strange creatures that attack on sight. Not literal water.** Owner canon, and what the title has always meant. | Brief, fact 2 |
 | **Oxygen** | The station's artificial atmosphere is broken. You carry a **limited** amount away from the ship and find canisters around the station. The ship produces unlimited oxygen, which **does not** mean unlimited portable oxygen. Running out kills you. | Brief, fact 1 |
 | **The ship** | Your broken ship at the dock: where you wake after death, where oxygen is produced, and where rescued survivors live. | Brief, facts 1, 3, 4 |
 | **Revival** | **When you die you wake aboard your ship.** *Why* is a mystery whose evidence is in the station — no cloning, time loop, simulation or alien mechanism has been chosen. | Brief, fact 3 |
 | **Survivors / the colony** | Human survivors found in the station, who can be sent to your ship, where they form a small colony. How rescue works and how life aboard develops **still need design**. | Brief, fact 4 |
 | **The two alien languages** | The station holds strange puzzles, traps, mechanisms and **at least two alien languages**. Survivors and clues may help you understand what is happening, why you revive, and how to leave. | Brief, fact 5 |
 | **The two reactions** | What the game must produce, in order: *"I discovered something incredible,"* then *"I made a ridiculous build work."* | Brief |

**Still a survivorlike** centred on exploration, experimentation and mystery. Horde survival and
player-developed power must be *"convincing parts of ordinary expeditions, not merely automatic attacks
attached to a sequence of puzzle rooms."* **Changed understanding is a valid payoff** — not every
discovery has to unlock a door.
